A New Look, A Deep Legacy

A New Look, a Deep Legacy

Voss started in a basement in 1960. Back then, my grandfather Ernie was doing it all—fixing TVs and stereos, selling home entertainment systems, helping neighbors and friends find first-of-its-time tech. Most importantly, he was building something meaningful for the long haul.

The logo? Hand-painted letters in black, white, and red, complete with a TV set.

From Basement Beginnings to Bold Branding

Over the years, the business grew—and so did our branding. If you’ve been around for a while, you probably remember the old-school cursive logo, the clean red-and-white version, and of course, the infamous red-and-yellow logo that gives serious Seinfeld vibes.

It was bold, bright, and maybe a little chaotic—kind of like running a family business.

That red-and-white sign on the side of our building stuck around for a long time. It saw generations of Pittsburgh families walk through our doors, and it stood strong through decades of weather and change.

So… Why the Change?

This year, we decided it was time.

Not because we wanted to feel like a big box store.

Not because a marketing agency told us to.

But because we’ve grown, and we realized that having multiple logos floating around town was confusing—for our customers and for us.

The new design is stronger, clearer, and more confident.

Just like our team.

Just like our commitment to doing things the right way—not the easy way.

We’re proud of where we’ve been. But we’re even more proud of who we are now.

The Meaning Behind the New Look

Our new logo is bold, clean, and represents three generations of Pittsburgh pride.

If you know Rick, you know he’s not into trendy or overdesigned anything. We went with something that matches our trucks and our values: straightforward, trustworthy, and built to last.

We also added a tagline under our name: “Family Owned & Operated Since 1960.” Because that’s not just a fact—it’s a promise.

What Hasn’t Changed

Our installers still carry washers up South Side staircases in the summer heat (and the winter snow).

We still answer the phone ourselves—and have no plans of changing that.

We still know most of our customers by name. And if we don’t yet, we’re working on it.

We’re still Voss. Just with a sharper look and a fresh coat of pride.

Thanks for Growing With Us

If you’ve ever bought a fridge from us, sent your neighbor our way, or even just slowed down to admire the new sign—we’re grateful.

This business is rooted in the community, and we’re lucky to still be here because of you. Because of Pittsburgh.

Thanks for sticking with us through every era—from rotary phones to bold red type.

We’re still just getting started.
